House GOP just dropped a compromise immigration bill – and it funds Trump’s border wall

House Republicans released details from their compromise immigration bill Thursday, and it contains concessions to Democrats for DACA recipients, and concessions to President Donald Trump.
The bill has been sent to Republican lawmakers by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) and will likely go to vote next week.
Legal status for “Dreamers”
Democrats were demanding protections for DACA recipients who were under threat of losing their Obama-era amnesty, and the bill delivers protections, but not a pathway to citizenship. The bill would grant visa status for the estimated 1.8 million “Dreamers” – a euphemism for illegal aliens who were brought into the country as children.
Dreamer applicants for this non-immigration legal status would need to meet requirements including having a GED or high school diploma, and be under 36 years old.
